Football

Football, known as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposing team by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net using any part of the body except the arms and hands, with the exception of the goalkeeper. The game is typically played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end. Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which are maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

Football is one of the most popular sports globally, characterized by its simplicity and the minimal equipment required to play, making it accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. It fosters teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness. Major football competitions include domestic leagues, such as the English Premier League, and international tournaments, like the FIFA World Cup, which attract audiences and participants from across the world.
